I have been online sourcing reference material of birds in flight and birds interacting with the environment and each other.

I have found a lot of slow motion birds in flight. This slow motion footage is good to help break down the complex motion that wings go through during flight. Mixing the slow motion movement with footage at normal speed to help get a better understanding of timing.

I have Created a scene with reference image plane, with footage of a bird landing. With this scene i have created a cube that comes into shot and lands in time with the stock footage so I can have a guide of timing with the rig.
